3 Helpful Books: All About Brains
🧠✨ It's been a minute since my brain has shared something. Enjoy!
Repeat after me: neuroplasticity neuroplasticity neuroplasticity. So relevant to learning differences — in addition to brain injuries, birth defects, neurological changes and disorders, and more.
Anyone who says a child “can’t” needs to revisit. “Can’t” could be system-related vs. science and aptitude.
There are some positively amazing stories in this book. And lessons related to neurodiversity as well as a woman with just one HEMISPHERE of her brain that is incredible. She wasn’t supposed to live yet she achieves above and beyond in many areas.
Let that sit with you.
The challenges may be many in the world of neurodiversity… however:
“On the one hand it’s a book of saying NO, and how it’s time to say no to trying to fit your round-peg kid into society’s square holes, no to educational and social systems that don’t respect your child, no to the anxiety and fear that keep parents stuck. And then it’s a book of YES. By offering 18 paradigm shifts - what she calls “tilts” - Reber shows how to change everything. How to “Get Out of Isolation and Connect.” “Stop Fighting Who Your Child Is and Lean In.” “Let Go of What Others Think.” “Create a World Where Your Child Can Feel Secure.” “Find Your People (and Ditch the Rest).” “Help Your Kids Embrace Self-Discovery.” And through these alternative ways of being, discover how to stay open, pay attention, and become an exceptional parent to your exceptional child.”
In other words, why be average? “Become an exceptional parent to your exceptional child.”
An incredible way to look at changing personal behaviors (AKA your own) in that the usual way isn’t the only way. Goals matter. Tiny changes matter. Tiny changes add up. PATTERN THOSE NEUROPATHWAYS IN POSITIVE DIRECTIONS, PEOPLE! You can. Your child can. Everyone can.
If you brush your teeth, you can. I mean, sure, some people like brushing their teeth but most don’t — but do. Day after day. Why? How does it become a habit you don’t think twice about?
“James Clear, one of the world's leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.”
Brains are capable of amazing changes, healing, and positivity.
You are not alone.
